What is Lean and Green?

Today, more and more, you hear about companies closing due to lack of money to keep up with the larger companies due to a lack of resources.

This is not simply associated with Manufacturing facilities. according to the L.A. Times:

Home Depot Inc. announced Monday that it was closing its 34 upscale Expo and other home specialty centers and laying off 7,000 people as a result of the crumbling U.S. housing market and worldwide economic downturn. In a move to cut costs, Foot Locker Inc. is closing 117 underperforming stores and trimming about 120 jobs this quarter, the retailer said Friday. Spokesman Peter Brown declined to provide details on which locations would be affected but said a large percentage were Foot Locker and Lady Foot Locker stores in the United States. Some have already been closed; the rest are expected to shut by the end of the month, when the company's fiscal year ends. The closures will help the specialty athletic retailer, which operates about 3,600 stores in 21 countries, become more efficient, said Tom Shaw, a lifestyle analyst at Stifel, Nicolaus & Co. "The whole company in one mall could have a Foot Locker, a Lady Foot Locker, a Kids Foot Locker, a Footaction and a Champs," Shaw said.

What are we to do...?

Lean Sigma is the answer.

For years, manufacturing, the electronics and communications companies have used Sigma tools to solve complex issues... Why not start using it in other areas as well?

Lean and Green can and will help with your efficiency problems but can and will use a Green approach to do so...

More to come...
